I have worked on projects such as designing a logo for an 'E Learning Development' blog. I have also illustrated an adult colouring book based around the theme of 'Radical American Women'. In between these projects and various commissioned illustrations, I have been working as a waitress for a more consistent income.
I completed general administrative and research duties for the Arts Department. I wrote proposals for arts documentaries and experienced arts journalism first hand. I also went on shoots and helped with production of programmes.
I won a competition entitled 'The Lab' run by Publicis Healthcare Communications Group. This was a national competition to find the best creative potential to develop. This gave me six months as a part of their team, with two of their agencies (PLBR and Saatchi). I was a creative hybrid working through from initial concepts, to design development and final execution in the world of healthcare advertising. I worked on many briefs and wrote and edited scripts for animations and videos, drew up concepts and storyboards and presented to clients.
I designed and presented creative workshops and built constructive relationships with vulnerable young people, struggling with mental health. We took the children horse riding and then held creative sessions with them. I designed a creative curriculum entitled 'My Selfie' focused on self portraiture and celebrating themselves as individuals. The groups were struggling with self worth and confidence; the results of these sessions were very successful.
This was an intensive, inspiring month being an Art Teacher at a behavioural centre for teenagers and young adults. I prepared and delivered lessons to small groups and individuals, giving them time to express themselves creatively.
I prepared classrooms, assisted in lessons and designed display boards. I built up a positive rapport with the students and completed general administrative tasks for teachers.
I designed and organised promotional material and I organised exhibitions and general administration for the Arts Department. I communicated with artists in meetings and through email/phone, learning about their practise, their journey and exploring how we can work together, creatively to raise awareness of mental health.
2.1 Producing and contextualising my art practise, through research, response and creative experimentation. I focused on gender roles in society and using art as a therapeutic means. I studied taxidermy in my spare time.
