Description

Closing Date: 31-May-2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Tate Britain curatorial team in an Assistant Curator capacity.
You will work across Tate Britain’s Collection Displays, which in 2023 were rehung for the first time in ten years, and include over 800 works by over 350 artists spanning six centuries.
Supported by a group of Curators and the Project Curator and Manager, Commissions you will deliver contemporary interventions in the Collection Displays. These are artworks that expand and diversify the story of British art told in Tate Britain’s galleries. Current interventions explore queer histories; women’s movements; colonialism and transatlantic slavery; and artists of African, Caribbean and Asian heritage.
You will also assist and support Tate Britain Curators to deliver and make changes to collection displays; and to write interpretation and summary texts.
We are looking for well-organised team-players with experience working with collections and exhibitions, able to multi-task, meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail. You will possess particular knowledge of contemporary British art, with an understanding of twentieth-century British Art in either the pre-1945 or post-1945 period.
We welcome candidates who can bring new and under-represented perspectives and voices into their work with exhibitions and the collection, particularly within the context of the legacies of colonialism, and ongoing racism and societal inequalities.
