Everyday, our curators feature community members in our People section, alongside projects on our Today and Projects sections.
Featured profiles: Our curators make sure to select members of The Dots that have at least three projects that are inspiring, rooted in a good cause or aesthetically spectacular. We select people whether they are juniors, mids or seniors. Lastly, make sure your profile details are all filled in and you are ready to go!
Featured projects: Our curators feature projects daily, which are shown on both the Today and Projects sections. Often, our curators look for work that is inspiring, rooted in a good cause or aesthetically spectacular. There are three main ways to stand out to our curators;
Projects you've worked on might already be on The Dots, get credit for your work.

If you have seen a company page on The Dots that you think you should have the admin rights to, please contact help@the-dots.com from the same company’s email address and confirm your job title.
You’ll need a Dots profile of your own if you would like to be the admin of a company page, so make sure to include that URL in your message, thanks!

Profiles on The Dots can be accessed via Google and other search engines. If you would like to hide your availability, you can do so by clicking ‘edit profile’. This great if you are job searching but would prefer to do so discreetly.
If you do not want to show your projects, you can hide them by clicking on the button underneath your project.
The only way to not appear in search engines is to permanently delete your account. See ‘How can I delete my account?' for information on this.
Currently, you cannot make your Dots profile private from search engines - our platform places much value on collaboration and opportunity and this cannot be fulfilled with hidden profiles.
However, you can hide your availability to clicking ‘edit profile’ - this is great if you are job searching but would prefer to do so discreetly.
If you do not want to show your projects, you can hide them by clicking on the button underneath your project.
The Dots is a community of no-collar professionals, including creators, entrepreneurs, freelancers and teams. Anyone can create a free profile to post their work (as projects) and credit teammates they worked with. With hundreds of thousands of projects on the site, The Dots is a vast source of inspiration for work from across the creative industries.
Promoting diversity is at the heart of what we do, so we use our platform to spotlight underrepresented groups. We believe that the creative industry should be accessible and equal for all.
10,000+ companies and brands also use The Dots to share projects and hire people. When searching for people to work with, companies will either post a job to our jobs board, or use the site to search, discover and message people. For more information about The Dots story and our mission, click here.
Discover projects and find inspiration from our community, or jump right in and create a free account - we’d love to have you!
If you follow somebody and they follow you back, you can message one another - hooray!
The only way to message a user that does not follow you is to purchase a Pro Account. This is recommended for those that want to reach out to other members of the community for recruitment/hiring purposes.
Cover photos will crop differently depending on what screen or monitor size is being used, so be sure to choose an image that works with various crops. Ideal dimensions are 2500px x 1200px with a minimum of 1700px x 800px. Cover photos cannot be deleted, so if you would like to remove your current image, just upload a newbie to replace it!
Company pages on The Dots can only have one owner at the moment. This works by having a user profile connected to a company page, acting as its admin.
Once logged in to the connected user profile, the company page can be found under ‘hiring’ then ‘company pages’, or by going straight to page and clicking the ‘edit’ button.
First up, you will need to create a free Dots personal profile here. This will become the admin account that can access and edit a company page.
Before you create a company page, be sure to check if your company already has a page by searching companies. If your company already has a page and you’d like to become the admin, contact us at help@the-dots.com and we’ll try to get this up and running for you. There can only be one admin account connected to a company page.
If your company doesn’t have a company page, be sure you’re logged in, and click ‘hiring’ then ‘view company pages’ and choose ‘add new’.
Top tip: make sure to populate the company page with a square logo image, a striking high quality cover photo and information on what the company does, along with three or more projects - this increases the chances of the page being featured!
If you have seen a company page on The Dots that you think you should have the admin rights to, please contact help@the-dots.com from the same company’s email address and confirm your job title.
You’ll need a Dots profile of your own if you would like to be the admin of a company page, so make sure to include that URL in your message, thanks!
At this stage there can only be one admin account connected to a company page. Admins are the only people that can post projects to a company page. However, you can still post a job to a company page without being an admin, simply select your company when you start posting a job.
When creating a project in edit mode, toggle the icon in the top left of the screen.
This will change from your Dots personal profile icon to your company page icon. The project will then appear under the company page.
Don’t forget to credit any collaborators on The Dots, and invite those that are not! Projects with teams are often featured by our curators.
Projects showcase the work you and your team do behind the scenes; be it a portfolio piece, case study, photo collection, article, campaign, event - you name it! As long as a project shows what you and your team have been creating, all is perfect!
If you're still unsure about projects and how they work, you can take a look at our Today page and see what other members in our community are posting for some inspiration.
Posting projects show our community what you are up to and spread inspiration. If you are available or looking for work it also helps potential employers discover you on The Dots, as the 10,000+ companies that use The Dots to hire are constantly searching projects to find and headhunt talent.
You can upload JPEG, GIF and PNG files on to Dots projects, and you can embed multimedia too - Soundcloud, Vimeo and Youtube all work by pasting URLs into the ‘links’ function on the edit toolbar - yay!
Oh no, we’re sorry to hear that. Let us help you find it! Please email us at help@the-dots.com with a couple of details to point us in the right direction;
Then we’ll jump in and have a look right away. Thanks so much!
Oh no, what a pain - sorry! If there is a user credited on your project that you know was not involved in its creation, just pop into the project, scroll down, and click ‘untag’ next to the user in question.
If there are any further problems, please contact help@the-dots.com with details. Thanks!
If you would like a project to appear under your company page and;
You are the company page admin: toggle the project author to your company. You can do this in the edit mode of creating a project. In the first stage of project editing, navigate to the top left hand side of the screen and you will see a circular icon with your Dots profile image in it. Toggle this to your company page icon and voila! You must be the admin of the company in order to this. PS, don’t forget to credit collaborators!
You are not company page admin: simply create a project and credit the company in ‘step two’ of the posting project process. This will feature the project on both your profile and the company page under its ‘Projects tagged in’ section.

Sadly this is out of our control as each individual company on The Dots manages their applicants - we simply provide a platform for companies to post opportunities for our community. More often than not, companies cannot respond to all applications made to them, we’re super sorry we can’t help further on this one.
Oh no, what a pain - sorry! On The Dots, you are able to upload one supporting document to your application. This should be a CV/resume or a portfolio. You can also write or copy and paste your cover letter in the ‘Cover Letter’ section on the job application page. For document uploads, we support PDF, Word or OpenOffice formats.
We have a career tips and insights page here - it’s full of golden advice!
Also, our monthly Portfolio Masterclass events are a great way to get feedback on your work from industry leaders. Click here to see upcoming events, and don't forget to follow the page to be the first in the know!
We focus more on connecting our community to companies and vice versa. Though we do have a jobs board, we are not recruiters and we do not provide recruitment advice on an individual basis. Here are our top tips for getting the most out of The Dots:
When we’re hiring, we post the opportunity on our own jobs board and company page.
Startups are a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. We’ve found the trick to weathering the hard times has been to hire happy, positive people that naturally focus on solutions, not blame. It’s an inherent characteristic that you can’t really teach and leads a productive working environment.
If this sounds like you, make sure you follow The Dots company page so that you’ll be notified as soon as there is a job at The Dots (make sure your notifications are switched on!).
It’s free to publish freelance and internship roles to The Dots, as long as internships are minimum wage or above.
It you want to publish a full-time job ad, you will need to purchase a job credit, click here and scroll down to see our pricing information.
To purchase up to five job credits on The Dots, you can make a transaction on the site. We do not take invoices.
However, if you are purchasing more than five job credits, or an annual subscription, our Talent Solutions team can help with that. Drop them an email here.
Once you have bought a job credit, we’ll automatically process an invoice for you - you’ll find them in your ‘account settings’ then ‘transaction history’ - easy peasy!
First up, you’ll need to buy job credits. Click here for information on buying jobs.
Members who have bought the job credit on their account can post a job and assign it to the company that the opportunity is for. If the company is not yet on The Dots, you’ll need to create a company page with a logo and cover photo, so that you can link the job up with the company. Click here to see how other company pages look.
When you are posting your job, you can choose to show or hide the salary of the position. When it comes to entering professions and skills into your job description on The Dots, it’s best to insert those that are must haves and relevant, as this helps job seekers find your job ad on The Dots.
Once a job post is published, it will be displayed both at the bottom of the company page it is assigned to, and on our latest jobs board. Within 24 hours, the job will appear on our ‘featured’ jobs board.
With one job credit, your job will last for 30 days. This is the same for all jobs on The Dots.
You can extend the same job if you’d like to, but before you must make sure you have another credit loaded and ready to go on your account. To re-publish the job, click into ‘hiring’ and then ‘manage job posts’. Find the job under ‘expired’ and click on the button with three little dots. There you can choose ‘publish’ and the job will be live again.
If you are the owner of the job ad, you can login and click into ‘hiring’. From there, choose ‘manage job posts’. Once you’re here, click on the button with three little dots next to the job you’d like to expire - then choose ‘expire job’.
Unpublished job credits will not expire, they are evergreen until they are published. When a job credit becomes a job ad, it will expire after 30 days.

When teammates have confirmed they worked on the project together, they get a verification badge for that particular project.
This means both the person who published the project and the person credited in the project have verified they worked together.
Want to get verification badge? Projects you’ve worked on might already be on The Dots. Try our nifty Get credit tool to search for projects you’ve worked on. We’ll then notify the person who published the project, to verify you worked together.
If you’ve credited yourself as working on a project, but have yet to get a verification badge, this means the person that published the project has yet to verify you worked together.
Want to get verified? Your best bet is to connect with the person who published the project and send them a message asking that they verify you. They can do this by clicking the ‘Manage Credits’ button at the bottom of the project – or in their notification feed.
