Album covers – Do you think we've lost appreciation for photographers, illustrators, typographers, and Art directors?

If not, can you post a cool pic of an album cover you appreciate?

  • Rather than people losing appreciation, I think album artwork serves a different purpose now. Before streaming, it was your 'first impression' to an artist and a condition for sales. Now, it still plays an important part, but more as a contributor to an artists brand than a marketing tool.

Album art can always enhance and reflect the experience of the music, so it's far from redundant, but more importantly, it can have its own impact: I'm thinking of how Kanye West's 'The Life of Pablo' was at the forefront of the previous wave of guerrilla-esque design, or Lady Gaga's 'Chromatica' and how that, quite single-handedly, brought back acid aesthetics.

A favourite of mine is 'Astroworld' from Travis Scott.
