Being based in London , a must??

The capital , yes a meeting is 20 minute tube journey away, a cab ride even a walk away!.

Now we have video meetings with so many platforms which lets face it have changed the way everyone gets together.
I’m a northern guy, TesticularcancerUK is northern based and I have a tint of Cheshire / Merseyside accent which although I did start to loose after serving in the military is still present.

I’m asked to do many video calls from many companies mostly London based and it’s comical when they here my accent but even more so when they say “ oh you’re not in London?”, in fact a handful who’ve wanted to work with me have carried on the conversation when in fact the fact we are not in London has already made their mind up and ask us to get involved but never get back to us .
I don’t at all think it’s a northern thing, just purely logistical . I’m interested in your views as business people if being in London sways who you work with

  • I don't think it's a must but of course, it helps. Just in terms of getting to face-to-face meetings, networking and so on. It really depends on what your offering, who you're trying to connect with etc. I would say though...anyone who decides they don't want to work with you based on your accent or location is probably not a good fit for you anyway!
