Engagement rings hold a special place in the world of fine jewellery, and constitute a significant 40-60% of the turnover for most of the jewellers we collaborate with at Finematter - it's their bread & butter. And for a lot of people, buying an engagement ring marks their first exposure to the world of fine jewellery, and is often the most significant jewellery purchase in their lifetime.

Despite its significance, the process of finding and purchasing an engagement ring can be a super stressful experience. There's a pretty large number of pain points associated with what's otherwise supposed to be a really enjoyable and meaningful process - from where to find a truly special piece, to navigating choices of metals, gemstones and sizing, to transferring an often large sum of money to an unknown jeweller up-front - there's a lot to consider and decide.

This is why we want to better understand how we can alleviate these pain points for our customers. Our goal is to provide not only support in finding ‘the ring’, but also to design a smoother, more enjoyable experience.
