I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me some feedback.

Totally agree with you with regards to removing the ‘placements’ section altogether. I was actually thinking of moving my ‘awards/achievements’ to the 1st page, so it’s good to get clarification on this. It has now been moved to page 1 along with 'software artlillery' too.

I have also replaced the fun little illustration of myself with my brand logo — it looks more professional and appropriate.

I know that bullet points rather than paragraphs are best, but it’s tough getting a balance between demonstrating these things without being too copy heavy. The suggestion of approaching a copywriter for help with this sounds like a good idea.

    Best wishes,
    Tim.
  • Hi Tim,

When designing a cv or portfolio, I think about how many cvs and portfolios a company is going to look through to get to the final 5-10 candidates. So it needs to be quick and easy to read and can tell who you are within 2-3minutes.

At a glance I would say it is very text heavy at the moment, so try and reduce the points for each role. might be worth speaking to someone who is skilled in copywriting if needed.

I would show off your awards and skills on the first page, to really highlight how skilled you are at a glance.

You could remove your work placements as it was over 13 years ago and you have plenty of experience within your cv.

If you are a branding designer, show off your own brand and apply it to your cv and portfolio, it shows your skills at a glance without looking at your portfolio.

Hope this helps, happy to speak further if you like :)
