I have just finished my Graphic Design course at University Centre Colchester, what is the best way set up a freelance illustration service?

I am eager to establish a freelance illustration business, selling my artwork and services. What is the best way to approach this, having never done anything like this before?
Thanks in advance,
Imogen

  • @Tania Vicedo Hello Tania, thank you for the advice that is really appreciated! Will definitely aim to get to as many events as possible and get some experience in that field first! Now I have something to consider regarding who I would like to work with and tailoring my website to these type of clients, thank you Tania! x
  • Hello Imogen. First things first, you should get a portfolio website ready. After that you can start figuring out what type of client you would like to work with, and where your type of work could fit. Once that is clear, try to find art directors in that area, and start getting in touch with them. You can also try to go to events where you could meet people in that field. Meeting in person always helps. It is a slow process, so I think it could be very benefitial to work in a company till you get a big enough base of clients. :)
