Should a well known personality create a new brand for projects they create or piggyback on their existing personal brand?

I am fairly well known in my industry. I have several tens of thousands of followers and many DIE HARD fans. I have spent years on reputation. However everyone seems to think that every project brand and company needs its own social network. I feel like thats starting all over again at square one. Looking for opinions.

  • I think it depends on what you're doing/what your end goal is. If the new brand is for projects way, way different from what you're know for and you don't want people to know its you or something then create a new one and don't link it to your exisiting personal brand. But if the new brand fits in with your personal brand then why start completely again from scratch? You could just start a new brand if you want AND share that with all your followers so everyone knows its you and supports - and at least that way you have a seperate brand that you can take in whatever direction you want further down the road.
