The Village Creatives in an online community for freelance and furloughed creatives, offering support to those working in isolation via monthly virtual sessions.

Next week we have a very special guest joining us to discuss the the challenges met in the creative industry and how we can address these issues for positive change. Daniel Poole has been recruiting creatives in London for over 15 years and is very well established with a good reputation and large network within London’s creative circuit.

"I had a difficult year last year, which was a result of multiple life stressors. It got very bad towards the end and I found myself in A&E on several occasions. During this period, several key figures in the creative industry that I knew (who had similar experiences) were an invaluable source of help and support to me, as they had experienced similar challenges (brought upon by working in advertising). This year some of those conversations have continued, but they’re obviously more reflective now.

One thing I find is that the more you discuss issues around mental health, the more they tend to spring up. I’ve found the creative industry to be rife with people really struggling; burnouts, imposter syndrome, ageism, long hours and creative project rejection are just some of the repeat offenders, and that’s just for the full time employees. Neurodiversity is largely unsupported too."

This event will be hosted via Zoom and a link will be sent out via email nearer the time.
