100 Paintings. 100 reflections.

  • Charmaine Coombs

Over the course of the first U.K lockdown I began painting100 paintings every day. The project was an experiment to aid my dissertation research towards a new movement called "Culture Care". The movement seeks to dig deeper into the understanding and knowledge of humans need for art and creativity as a fundamental way of healing our mind and soul during times of uncertainty or as a way of combating toxic environments we live in. The paintings took inspiration from Brightons vivid summer sunsets in brush strokes resembling an impressionist style. The process allowed me to be slow, present and hopeful which dramatically helped with anxiety, daily motivation and appreciation. *to see all 100 Paintings please checkout my Instagram account @charm_coombs
