Diversity & Inclusion Project Objective

Vox Pops International understands that diversity and inclusion in the workplace is a growing concern and focus for many organisations.
To help HR, recruitment and training departments begin or continue a journey of improvement in this area and engage others with the topic of diversity and inclusion, VPI has created a number of free resources that act as a starting point to implementing real change.

Project overview

VPI interviewed 100 members of the public of different backgrounds, geographical locations, sexual orientation and age groups on the subject of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. They have captured over 15 hours of interview footage created an in-depth report on the findings, as well as producing eight videos to summarise people’s first-hand experiences of diversity at work.
The content is intended as a free resource to provide organisations with the tools to make a difference by being both insightful and engaging. This gives teams ammunition that will make a real impact and demonstrate the significance of diversity and inclusion, whether presenting to senior leaders or educating junior staff.

Available resources

  • 15 hours of footage & transcripts
  • Research report created from an in-depth analysis of the responses and external research

Research summary

Vox Pops International has identified benefits that the public feel diversity and inclusion has for organisations, with interviewees associating concepts such as creativity, new ideas, multiple perspectives, greater understanding of the market and a stronger set of company values. Such findings were congruent with The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2018 in which inclusive and diverse societies directly translated to higher levels of business success, as well as an “increase in levels of innovation, and ability to build customer loyalty and brand strength”, all of which are key to business growth.

A few key findings

  • 98% of respondents that we interviewed believe diversity in the workplace is important.
  • Over 70% of contributors highlighted the lack of diversity within top leadership roles.
  • The majority of interviewees had experienced or witnessed social exclusion at their workplace.
  • All respondents agreed that diversity builds positivity and a stronger image for the company.
