Logo and brand identity design for 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen, located on the 6th floor of John Lewis & Partners’ flagship store at London’s Oxford Street.
Operated by Benugo, 1864 is named in honour of the year John Lewis & Partners was established.
The interior – designed by Path Design – features stripe patterns throughout the site, including bespoke fabrics by Colours of Arley.
The brand identity was specified to be built around these stripes which also reference the visual identity of John Lewis & Partners.
The typefaces ‘Melodrama’ – with its strong vertical stress – and ‘Futura’ – with its geometric construction – work in harmony with the stripe patterns.
The stripes can be utilised flexibly across the brand identity including promotional, operational and wayfinding signage.
