As the New Year approaches, many of us are making resolutions. Some of them we’ll keep, some not so much. But one that we can all make (that isn’t even that hard or a real commitment) is being more eco-friendly. This is the only planet we’ve got and we need to take care of it now. Here are just a few changes you can make in your life in 2020. Bring Your Mug Just because you can’t give up your java for the New Year, doesn’t mean you can’t give up paper waste. Reusable Water Bottles Water is free. Right out of your tap. If you don’t like its tastes, purchase a filtration system. Just stop spending money on bottles that in turn go into landfills. Bring Your Own Bags If your state or favorite grocer has not already banned plastic bags, take the initiative yourself and bring reusable bags for your goods. Unplug it Even if an electronic device isn’t being used, it still consumes energy when plugged in Pull the cord on things like your chargers or small kitchen appliances when they aren’t currently being used. For more information on saving on energy, see this article. Compost it Take your trash to the compost instead of the garbage. You’ll help reduce and reuse your waste and also make a natural fertilizer perfect for use in your garden or lawn. Use CFL Bulbs Not only are CFL bulbs better for the environment because they use less electricity, they also last much longer (we’re talking years here) and burn brighter than regular bulbs. Go Paperless Just about every company has an option for you to get your bills, statements, correspondence, etc., electronically. Chances are, you do not need these things printed out. Instead, set up an online account for each of your bills. You can access all of your information there and even pay online. While these are just little blips on the radar of becoming more eco-friendly in 2020, every blip counts. For other ideas on things you can do to save our planet, check this article out.
