My name is Meka, I am a fashion photographer originally based from Manchester, but now living in Ningbo, China. I am so excited to share this project that me and stylist Esme Toker collaborated on and created together. A year ago me and stylist Esme Toker, upped and left the UK to move to a neighbouring city of Shanghai, Ningbo. Everything was beautiful, yet terrifyingly different. Overtime, without realising it, we grew to adopt and yern over small, seemingly insignificant, daily occurrences that began building the home around us. A warm milk tea after work, the same cheerful 'hello' from the security guards of our apartment block, the slightly too tight hug from the lady in the canteen and the sound of a facetime call to loved ones 6,000 miles away. Although tiny, these mundane, repetitive actions have become fundamental to our lives here in China. Reflecting on this past year in Asia, these small everyday occurrences have built what we now call our home. This photoshoot reflects and highlights the continuous discovery of these reoccurring moments of home. We created this set within a back room of the Fashion and Technology University we work at in Ningbo. All the photo assistant, tech support, styling assistant and the MUA are all beautifully talented students we have collaborated with from the university. team: DP: meka goulding @meka.goulding (she/her) stylist: Esme Toker @mushyroot (she/her) photo assist: Arain Cao @arain_cw (she/her) styling assist: Cynthia Zhang (she/her) mua: Cookie Li (she/her) model: Ash Chai @hijazn_ (she/her)
