A Panel Talk in Collaboration with Capture One & Ravensbourne about representation, inclusivity and meaningful work.

  • Bella Okuya

Capture One and Ravensbourne University invite you for the second instalment of "In perspective", a series of talks hosted by Capture One aiming to shine a light on some of the narratives shaping the photography industry’s future. "In perspective brings" educational institutions and next-generation photographers, communities, and established photographers together to reimagine unsettled narratives. Supported by Black Women Photographers: https://blackwomenphotographers.com/ Synopsis: Celebrating Mary Ashokeji’s project “Expressions of worship” shortlisted for Sony World Photography Awards in the student category, the talk puts in perspective, in a broader sense: the different takes on representation and how to avoid tokenism in photographic-practice; the different challenges in creating safer and inclusive spaces for photographic exploration; and finally, how these approaches to the photography can lead to meaningful work and opportunities for established and next-generation photographers in the industry. This peer-to-peer panel supported by Black Women Photographers proposes an all-female line-up to continue debating a progressive approach to narratives shaping the future of the photography industry.
