Developing new techniques to create a 9 metre tall sculpture of an industrial chimney to go into a public space outside Leeds University Laidlaw Library. Working from a rough design by artist Simon Fujiwara and then realising these ideas into a 3D form.
The work was cast using Jesmonite with an aluminium frame system to hang each panel from a mild steel structure and create the form of the chimney.
Each panel had to have colours and textures cast into it, including coal, patinated copper and patinated mild steel.
