About Bloom UK

Our Vision

We believe that the communications industry should be one in which all women can achieve their potential.
While diversity and gender equality continue to be talked about at length, it is clear that there’s still some way to go for women in comms. In the UK, women make up more than half of junior agency staff, but this drops to 30% in leadership roles, and only 11.5% of creative directors are female.
We’re therefore driven to change the status quo and our mission is to provide a professional network and tailored services to support, empower and enable women to future proof their careers.
All our events and activities raise money for our charity partner, Women's Aid who do hugely important work working towards the end of domestic abuse of women and children.

Our Pillars:

Inclusivity:
We have a membership of over 60 women from a broad spectrum of roles, levels companies and we recognise and champion individual skill sets and different personalities. We purposefully invite people from beyond our membership, including men, to participate in our thought leadership events and will not only address topics of a gender focus but of ethnicity, sexual and background.

Collaboration:
We can only do the work we want to do and have the greatest impact by collaborating with other groups who are aligned with our vision.

Individual Development:
We are supporting women at every inflection point in their career through our programme of activity.

Our Work:

The services we offer span the full spectrum of seniority levels and roles within the communications industry:
Mentoring:
We support newcomers to the  industry by facilitating an annual mentoring programme.
Skills Sharing:
Short, sweet workshop-style sessions focused on practical tips for your career. Held by Bloom members, for Bloom mentees and our junior colleagues.

Networking:
Our calendar of events includes quarterly Achieving Your Potential industry panels which focus on the challenges and opportunities that exist for women in the comms industry. Bloom members are also invited to informal Mixer meet ups which take place every other month in addition to the Summer and Christmas celebration.

Bloom non-exec board initiative:
To fulfill our pledge of supporting the development of women at all levels we piloted a ‘Non-Exec Leadership Initiative’ in 2016. The scheme will run again in 2017 and enables Bloom members - via training and introductions - to take up a non-executive board position.
BloomFest:
A first for 2017! Bloom Fest will be a standalone event open to members and Bloom members designed to equip them with new skills and inspire them to try new things.

Fundraising:
10% of our membership fees and 100% of our AYP ticket sales go towards our charity partner, Women’s Aid who do hugely important work working towards the end of domestic abuse of women and children.
