Across the Ocean

How to create a travel story about Brazil without ever going there? Across the Ocean is a motionless journey. It's an editorial project made from a collection of different informations (emails, letters, photographs ...) It presents a photographic and illustrative style, created from these unknown testimonies. The aim is to portray this country based only on the information gathered and not a real life travel experience. ​ Across the Ocean has a specific approach to create a travel story in Brazil. Questionnaires prepared from documentation and exchanges with Brazilians are the basis for the entire project. Questions that deal with various parts of life, nature, culture, rites and beliefs. From each questionnaires collected, I developped a photograph and a personal interpretation of the Brazilian lifestyle by using objects and places around me.
