Advice from Holly Hay, Photographic Editor at Another Magazine

  • Holly Hay

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re putting the spotlight on some of the most inspiring women in the creative industries on The Dots. Over the rest of the week, we’ll be highlighting their work, thoughts on what it means to them to be in the creative industries, their inspirations, aspirations, iconic role models and sage words of advice.

Next up, we have Holly Hay, Photographic Editor at bi-annual culture and fashion home, AnOther Magazine and their online entity.
What does it mean to you to be female and in the creative industries?
It’s empowering working at AnOther and being surrounded by the smartest, most talented women in the industry. I feel challenged and inspired by them every day and that makes me feel very proud to be a woman working in the creative industries.

Do you have words of wisdom for other women looking to break into the industry?
Work for people you respect and make yourself indispensable.

Who is your all time female creative icon?
I did my first internship when I was at University with Penny Martin and Laura Bradley at SHOWstudio. They both continue to give me the best and, most honest and advice and the work they have gone on to do, reminds me why I do what I do and that I love it. I am very lucky to now work alongside Laura Bradley again and her positivity and passion for what she does is something very special.
