After The Storm - short film

  • Toni Hendry

After the Storm is a short drama inspired by true events that happened in London in 2019. Our two female leads, Hannah and Erin, find themselves subject to attack by three young men on their journey home from a date night together. They are faced with the ultimate decision; whether to turn a blind eye to the ignorance or to stand up and fight injustice. With a predominantly queer crew, the reason behind this project was to create something that gives an honest depiction of LGBTQ+ people as well as showing the harsh realism of hate crimes that still happen in the UK. This is an adaptation of 1 (ONE) story out of the 14,491 LGBTQ+ hate crimes that were reported in the UK between 2018-19. Some of the inspirations behind this film are Moonlight (2016), The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018) and Birdie (2018). I was 1st AC and focus puller on this project.
