In tandem with the V&A's 2015 exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty 3rd year BA Jewellery students from Central Saint Martins responded to a project brief to develop an ambitious wearable that also celebrated the use of Swarovski crystal or gemstones. I collaborated with former course leader Caroline Broadhead and current course leader Giles Last to produce a project that resulted in a temporary display of work to run concurrently with the V&A exhibition. Ten students from BA Jewellery Design were shortlisted to create pieces for display and to conclude the project last weekend they presented their work as part of the Extreme McQueen: How to Wear Accessories seminar. The collaboration between the V&A, Swarovski and CSM made visible the creative interplay between these organisations and their impact on student attainment and progression. The image here shows work produced by the winning student of the Swarovski competition Akiko Shinzato.
