Alia Magazine

  • Sara Liberati

The Magazine I am presenting here below is the result of my final year of studies. I have created and launched a magazine named Alia, which in Esperanto means "diverse", and "varied". In its extreme topicality to the current times we live in, Alia celebrates the contributions of international creatives to the multicultural zeitgeist of London through art and fashion. Heavily relying on contributions, the publication contains the works and collaborative effort of over 30 artists, whose work I had the pleasure to direct during the last three months. The magazine takes inspiration throughout its content from a modern take on Surrealism and Dadaism as a way to mirror current times. As, for the most part, it was created during the lockdown, this magazine also portrays the current situation of our world. Alia aims to bring its readers to a critical reflection on the world we live in and the future we are building for ourselves in it. Within Alia's pages, you will see the world with new eyes. It will make you laugh, think, reflect and sometimes we’ll make you see double.

Below are some spreads from the magazine's content
The first one is an interview with Italian artist Naomi Vona

In this piece instead, I spoke to Lithuanian designer and stylist Katrina Bajoras on the role of cosmopolitanism in her work.
In the piece below, inspired by the indisputable influence of the current times on the creative worl, I spoke to Polish designer and artist Wojciech Synak about the role that Time as a force plays on our creativity.
Finally, here is a photoshoot syled and directed by myself which reflects on the impact of the current environmental crisis on the world of our future. In particular, the images aim to criticise humankind's destruction of the environment by showing what will be our potential eating habits in centuries from now.
