During my time at university, I’ve been committed to producing story-telling work through photography, styling and editing. We got given the brief of 'diversity', and I knew I wanted to bring to light a topic that rarely gets recognition. Under 2% of the modeling industry has alopecia, leaving sufferers with no-one to look up to and no representation of their stories in the media. I conducted a three-part photography series based on interviews I held with an alopecia group and created concepts describing how they felt at each point of their alopecia journey, from 'feeling like an alien', 'braving the shave' to finally 'feeling feminine again'. All photography, editing and styling by me, with special thanks to the Panache group for collaborating with me on this!
