Amarmi

Pavart contemporary art gallery is proposing photography fine art exhibition AMARMI by Riccardo Acerbi, curated by Velia Littera. The marble statues arranged in a crown around the “Marmi Stadium” located in Rome have been silently portrayed by Riccardo Acerbi, they forced him to move, to walk around them to find the right shot and, in a certain sense, the photographer himself posed in front of them to be inspired and be able to produce a series of meaningful and contemporary photographs. On display, 13 photographs printed in black and white on a special fine art photographic cotton paper Canson Infinity. These photographs are still images of male marble statues that emerge thanks to the passages of chiaroscuro and shades of grey. The three dimension becomes more evident and so, pure shapes are given back. The perfection of the features of the athletic bodies seem divine silhouettes turned towards infinity to invoke imaginary superpowers. The author of the photos has thought in black & white even before shooting and the choice of the subjects, the light and the composition are created according to a photographic representation composed of monochromatic tones. The title of the exhibition is also an important indication of the meaning of the exhibition; the photographer wants to show us how important it is to love each other in order to love others. Loving oneself is not an act of selfishness bit it means taking care of oneself, to take care of others and above all to love oneself in order to love in return.
