Angel's Journey

These are the interior double page spreads I illustrated for my young audience book, Angel's Journey. The book follows the story of a young boy called Angel, who is staying the night away from his two mums for the first time. He feels anxious, as though he is in another world to everyone else who have gotten used to life; his peers, teachers and his parents. However, the vivid imagination that comes with his anxiety also allows him to escape and feel comforted by the nature around him. He sees strange creatures everywhere, watching him, feeling emotion even though are often huge and intimidating. Angel is depicted as colourful and different distinctly by his bright orange hat. His anxiety makes him feel left out, but the dragons that seemingly only he can see reassure him that he is not alone in his emotions. When he reaches the campsite, a girl from his class reaches out to help him off the bus. The two are depicted as warm and colourful. Finally, Angel realises that he truly is not alone, and joins the group around a campfire, where all of the dragons watch calmly from the shadows.
