Exhibition text We ignore the mystery of the origin of life, however, we can see and feel how everything is animated, everything grows, mixes, mutates, evolves, and dies. The darkest element is water. She is the total virtuality, the potency of all that exists. Light reveals its transparency, and calls to the surface the form that germinates from within. Below is the Water, above is the Earth, higher above is the Sun. Movement is a vital drive, growth implies rupture, adaptation, hybridization. Observing life closely reveals the intricate tissues inside of her, to translate these tissues into image, to manipulate it, to alter it, is the artifice of the imagination. This is a body of light, an immaterial network that is capable of taking what exists and transforming it. Photography, painting, video, are mirages, glimmers of life that sparkle in the crystal of our mind. Art and ritual share their origin. When observing the mysteries of the universe, humans seek to replicate them through the symbol. A circle traced on the ground becomes a sacred place, two lines create a path that opens into another dimension. Four objects are arranged as guardians of an ephemeral temple, which only exists when a ritual action is performed there. To enter the space of art, as in a temple, is to believe that the arrangement of objects and images fulfill a magical function. Ánima Híbrida invites us to participate in this space from the material experience that contains us all. To feel the water and the earth, to contemplate the forms of light, to mingle with the energy of life brought by the jackal from the bottom of the lagoon, which is also death. / This exhibition was made in collaboration with Arturo Gutiérrez, (concept art, set up and body painting) @arthur.draws and Fabián Hernández (headpiece design) @pelitozlocos.
