The new film is touted as "a very personal coming-of-age narrative about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream" by the filmmaker of "Ad Astra," "Two Lovers," "We Own The Night," and "The Yards."

It is a semi-autobiographical tale that was influenced by Gray's own background. Here, newcomer Michael Banks Repeta plays Paul Graff, a boy growing up in 1980s New York, when racial tensions were rising in the city and Ronald Reagan was on his way to the White House.

Young Paul is sent to a harsher private school in the hopes that it will keep him in line and give him an advantage in the world after getting into trouble with his best buddy (played by Jaylin Webb).

Jessica Chastain's character Maryanne Trump, who is related to Donald Trump, addresses the class at the beginning of Paul's first day of school. And the movie, which is set decades before the future president's era and attempts to remark on it, is heavily influenced by his era.

When the initial choice, Cate Blanchett, was unable to make the timetable work, Chastain was glad to step in. She even provided free labour. When they sent Chastain an offer for the part, she responded, "No, no, put the money back into the movie." The only thing I request is that it never be made public that I am a part of this movie.

Never mention the new trailer to her! Since she appeared in the film, which was viewed by everyone in Cannes, we assume she is now alright with it. One of the cats is definitely out of the bag.

Jeremy Strong and Anne Hathaway play Paul's parents, Irving and Esther, respectively. Anthony Hopkins plays Paul's grandfather, Aaron Rabinowitz, who gives Paul some wise counsel on how to handle racist bullies.

Since his family emigrated to America when he was a child to evade the Nazis, he has motivation to stand up to bullies.

Given the cast and the subject matter, in addition to the great reviews coming out of Cannes, we'd anticipate this one to be heavily considered for awards, particularly in the acting categories.

On October 28, "Armageddon Time" will be released in theatres.
