ANNTIGONE

  • Anna Dodashvili

Brand Name – ‘Anntigone’ is inspired by Antigone, the protagonist of Sophocle’s play named after her. Apart from the storyline, which carries a distinctive temperament and symbolic value, the name could also be divided in two parts Annti – suggesting anti, opposite, unusual, rebellion, competitor, challenger and Gone – as the past participle of the verb “go” in English, indicating on taking a specific path. In addition, in Greek ἀντί (anti) means "against, compared to, like" and γονή (gone) - "birth, offspring". ‘Anntigone’, as a whole, proposes the idea of someone/something that does not follow the general flow, but choses an individual approach – sui generis attitude and way of living. Brand Logo – is inspired by simple but structural visual representation. The image presents the junction of first two letters of the brand name. The letters are taken from one of the Georgian scripts’, called Mkhedruli alphabet: ა (ani) and ნ (nari) are fused together to generate an angular shape. This figure also gives the ability to be incorporated in the design as a pattern, latch, button, zipper head, etc.
