The ‘Apple Strudel’ collection creates a child’s narrative across a ski world. The project was inspired by my own collections of family ski-holiday memorabilia, alongside a love for the mountains. Not only are my own experiences a main inspiration, but retro skiwear remains a constant reference throughout this collection. Modern-day influences came from long-standing winterwear brands such as Moncler; who became significant within research throughout the design process. Seamline detailing, and graphic ski-map prints navigate the viewer around each garment as if travelling across the mountain. A ski world which is enhanced by the child’s imagination featuring hand-drawn characters across a series of techniques. Shapes are clean with oversized silhouettes featuring as a reference to baggy ski outerwear. A busy, graphic print navigates the viewer around the mountain ski map following bold colour-blocked lines and dots. This chaos continues into a powerfully colourful and graphic winter fair-isle knit series. A fresh, icy palette takes inspiration from a scene at the top of the mountain; vivid blue-sky contrasts with snowy lights and brights. Bold ski-run highlights run throughout as well as retro wild colourblocking. Quilted outerwear is paired with insulating merino knits. Soft, quilted jersey sets provide yet more layers and warmth.
