ARCHI-TEXTURE

ARCHI-TEXTURE showcases a selected theme exploring ‘industrial’ finishes, supported with a monochromatic colour palette derived from buildings inspired by minimalism and muted architectural features. With inspiration drawn from London skyscrapers that highlight the textures and combination of exposed materials and rough surfaces. The topic of ‘architecture’ has been a constant source of inspiration within the fashion industry – as structured buildings often reflect ideal principles of geometric shapes, and layered compositions revealed in placement and repeat patterns that explore three-dimensional developments. The project reflects on tactile components used to echo the atmosphere of dense architecture settings, embodied through a black and white colour palette (greyscale), with electric statements of blue used to represent mixed-materials used within a structure. Rigid and harsh interactions are heavily contrasted with the use of softer fabric bases aimed towards a high-end collection for womenswear accessories and outerwear (A/W19). Understanding how the movement and fluidity within material-lead designs - showcases a range of surface qualities consisting of opaque, matte, translucent, satin, gloss and clear finishes. The collection creates abstract patterns supported by simplified linear details to create a timeless collection informed by WGSN colour trends such as ‘black and white colour blocks’ or ‘linear pattern’.
