Synchronous with the booming craft beer movement, ABV was a collaborative exhibition that united the 3 creative skills of brewing, illustration and screen-printing. We worked with twenty fantastic artists, each one distinguished in the worlds of contemporary illustration, design and typography, and asked them to design a fictional beer label for us to screen-print.
The artists served up some incredible pieces, reflecting the powerful names, hypnotising slogans and inspiring mythology of those strange and spectacular brews that have intrigued and confused so many diligent drinkers. During our week long occupation of 71A Gallery we displayed all designs as large format screen-prints, with limited edition copies available to buy and an assortment of exciting peripheries for our visitors to indulge in. On top of that, our friends at People’s Park Tavern packed a punch with a special exhibition beer, free on launch night, and their head brewer shared some secrets of the trade at the ‘Talk & Taste’ closing event. The event was a spectacular showcase of beer, art and print.
