Baby Bonkle Bus

  • Louise Wheeldon

The brief was to create a piece of work ready for installation. This was part of a group show, a collaboration of work by The Glasgow School of Art and The Vintage Vehicle Trust Glasgow in one space. The final work was a short film based around the story behind the bus. Two protagonists are traveling between destinations on the same route where the story took place, they discuss the miracle birth of a baby that occurred beneath them many years ago. My Script: TEE "Hey Christian..." CHRISTIAN "Hey Tee" TEE "Do you want to go to The Ox and Donkey for drinks when we get to the station?" CHRISTIAN "Why not? We're celebrating." - pause - TEE "The town's been talking about a baby born on this bus." CHRISTIAN "I know I've heard, it is all everyone is talking about is this babe being born." TEE "It's a miracle she managed, considering there was no room". CHRISTIAN "...Jesus Christ." TEE "I think it's heartwarming, the woman gathering round behind the driver's seat to deliver this child." CHRISTIAN "Where was it born, Bethlehem?" TEE "They pulled up in Bonkle, but there is no news of a father so who knows." - pause - CHRISTIAN "Waters breaking and giving birth, she must have flooded the bus." TEE "you're an ass." - pause - CHRISTIAN "Imagine going into labour on your travels..." TEE "That's some story to tell."
