My final year project was driven by the desire to re-connect children with the world around them. Aimed at a commercial market, I designed ‘storytelling’ duvets, wallpapers and cushions intended to spark excitement and curiosity about what there is to see and do outside.
My designs were inspired by plants, leaves and the kinds of woodland animals that kids might come across whilst out in the wilderness. The exploration of mark-making and watercolour techniques allowed the creation of familiar nature motifs and characters. Working digitally enabled me to directly translate my motifs into print, as well as experiment with new and interesting compositions.
