Narrating Perception is a continuation of Image to Reality - Journey. It examines the relationship between image and reality through a variety of different media. By identifying journey as the gap between image and reality, the project concludes in a film installation and book that explores the way in which journey manipulates our own preconceptions of a place. There are three fruits depicted in the film Banana, Strawberry, Apple, taking the form of a tryptic. Each film has one main narrative that runs throughout, but also displays an array of smaller narratives that are explored through different kinds of visuals. The use of documentary film footage, imagery and original footage comments on the way in which image changes our perceptions of reality. Ultimately this film uses fruit as a vehicle for demonstrating how perception is influenced by a variety of different factors, whether they be fictional, personal, historical or cultural etc. This film features footage from: Caribbean with Simon Reeve.
