Banaras: The Doorway Between Heaven and Earth/Banarasiya

‘Banaras:The Doorway Between Heaven and Earth’ is inspired by Banaras, an ancient city
of Northern India, having deep cultural and spiritual roots. It's a majestic city with its meandering
narrow serpentine alleyways, numerous shrines and temples and hundreds of ancient ‘ghats’ or
narrow steps lining the river Ganga; dotted by the colorful parasols.
Banaras also sports a cosmopolitan character in modern times with its eternal charm drawing
people to it from all over the world. The bustling lanes of the city look like an impossible tangle
but at the same time the chaos, the color and the warmth make a heady mix.
The structured chaos of this city was a magnet to me - a combination of rural and urban, colorful
and serene. Banaras presents a unique social and cultural fabric, which is- in my opinion, the
essence of this city. I believe that my values, thoughts, culture and nature are reflected in the
most organic way by this beautiful, chaotic city.
