After applying through a submission on Instagram I was chosen to be the Barbican Instrammer In Residence for June 2019.
The submission brief was Lines & Intersections.
During June I photographed many events including:
- Lee Krasner: Living Colour
- AI: More Than Human
- Sound Unbound 2019
- Barbican Architecture Tour
- Barbican Walking Tour
plus various I made a couple photo series of my own.
Lee Krasner: Living Colour
This exhibition celebrates the work and life of Lee Krasner (1908–1984), a pioneer of Abstract Expressionism. The first major presentation of her work in Europe for more than 50 years, Lee Krasner: Living Colour tells the story of a formidable artist, whose importance has too often been eclipsed by her marriage to Jackson Pollock.
AI: More Than Human
This major centre-wide ‘festival-style’ exhibition explores creative and scientific developments in AI, demonstrating its potential to revolutionise our lives. Bringing together artists, scientists and researchers, this interactive show offers an unprecedented survey of AI with which you are invited to engage head-on.
Prepare for your preconceptions of AI to be challenged by this timely exhibition, that reflects on how this technology impacts our very existence.
Sound Unbound 2019
A free music festival of unexpected sounds in unexpected places.
Music bursts from the Barbican and out across Culture Mile’s architectural gems with a line-up of artists for whom the boundaries between classical and contemporary, experimental and jazz are blurred – or never even existed in the first place.
Architecture Tours: New Perspectives
Led by expert guides, the tour takes you across the Barbican Centre and surrounding Brutalist estate. You’ll explore the site’s little-known nooks and crannies, venturing through criss-crossing highwalks, leafy courts and sweeping crescents, with plenty of stops along the way, including:
Barbican Walking Tour
A walking tour with Chris Wood exploring the unique architecture of the Barbican Estate.
