Being Heard

  • Pip Rowson

Event production with House of Cultural Curiosity CIC and Hastings Youth Council. I co-produced the project 'Being Heard' with House of Cultural Curiosity. We were funded by the Women's Vote Centenary Grant Scheme to explore the Representation of the People Act with young people in Hastings, UK. We worked with Rosalie Schweiker, a conceptual artist who uses social exchanges such as conversations, economic transactions and jokes to find new functions for art in society. Rosalie ran a one-day workshop with Hastings Youth Council exploring: How can you get your voice heard outside of the usual ways? What does political representation mean to you? What are your thoughts about democracy and the right to vote? House of Cultural Curiosity seeks to democratise knowledge by bringing people together to explore all sorts of things with fresh eyes through collaboratively produced creative projects.
