With a view to maximizing the efficiency of their existing building stock and improve their productivity, Bidwells LLP, one of the UK’s leading property consultancies, undertook a major refurbishment and extension of their Cambridge Headquarters, Bidwell House. We were involved on the project from inception, providing integrated architectural advisory to their in-house team, complemented by workplace consultancy and interior design services. The Bidwell House project involved relocating staff from three different offices into a single, modern flagship headquarters, allowing staff to work in a more integrated and collaborative fashion. Through extensive workshops and individual staff interviews, we developed the initial project and workplace brief, identifying key aspects of the current working culture, the organization’s specific needs, aims and future aspirations. Detailed occupancy analysis significantly informed the development of a workplace strategy tailored to their needs, allowing the implementation of agile working as a way of boosting productivity and encouraging interdepartmental collaborations. This integrated architectural advisory service allowed the workplace strategy to inform the design from the start, ensuring the architecture and interior layouts compliment and support the proposed workplace strategy.
