I am currently conducting research on the Soft Singing Quality produced through False Vocal Fold Vibration that is becoming increasingly prominent in Popular music, especially looking at Billie Eilish's impact and sonic influence and Contemporary Pop. My aim is to dissect and analyse this technique historically and physiologically, and explain the ways and reasons it is so 'catchy' and aurally pleasing. Finally, I will present how I use this vocal technique for the relating to the aforementioned reasoning, in my upcoming EP. This research project will be presented the form of a 30 minute 'Lecture' as part of my Master's Research Lecture Recital Module.
