BlaBlaCar

  • Veronica & Sarah

Our campaign positions BlaBlaCar as a fun, alternative way to travel.

BlaBlaCar is the environmentally friendly ride-sharing service for those who realise that public transport is just a bit, well...shit. We decided to get some first hand experience of the service and went on an adventure to Amsterdam with a band, their van Chantal and an American guy called Scott.
During our trip (no, not that kind of trip) we realised that BlaBlaCar isn't just a cheap way to get from A - B, it's a community. People go for the savings, but stay for the social aspect.

Idea One
Waiting for trains is boring.
We ask bored commuters at stations to vote on the old adage 'Is it the Journey or the Destination?''. They do this via an installation that collects and displays the votes and provides a fun spectacle for those in the station.
The Machine.
Caractacus Potts is irritatingly fictional so the game(s) would be built by somebody like Tim Hunkin (creative genius who deserves a knighthood).
Players activate the game by choosing journey or destination and a car representing their choice then embarks on a miniature mechanical adventure ending in the delivery of a card that reads 'With BlaBlaCar, you can have both'.

Idea Two
A BlaBlaCar journey in your city
Unsuspecting passers by will stumble across the start point of a journey marked on the street and leading them to an unknown destination.
Those that chose to follow the street markings are taken on an interactive walking tour. Gathering information and further guided by posters and billboards, people arrive at hidden city-themed pop ups.
Once inside, the final part of the activation (aside from enjoying the pop-up) is to tweet/instagram whether they enjoyed the journey part of the experience more than the destination.
