Blociau

  • Adam Humphrey
Blociau, completed for the RSA student design awards 2015 ‘Fair Play’ brief , is an environmentally considered packaging design for a building block toy. It uses die cut, reused cardboard to create a box which can be torn apart into blocks similar to those inside the packaging. This also allows for the cardboard blocks to be used in fun crafts and glued together into more permenant shapes.
Once the cardboard quality deterorates it can be safely composted, since it’s adhesive is made of a simple papier mache paste. The project started with an idea to create a completely cardboard construction toy. Using only layers of cardboard.
I made a full working model of the design for exhibition, each cardboard block can be torn off and played with.
Below are the presentation boards submitted for the competition and a video of the full working model.
