Blokur x London College of Communication

Blokur helps musicians and music companies get paid what they should, when they should, by ensuring that their rights are accurately represented. They came to London College of Communication looking for assistance with their digital content, with particular focus on their visual outputs, to better represent the service and solutions they provide to their audience.

Through the Digital Grid Partnership, Fazilet Akbaba, a third-year student from BA (Hons) Animation secured an internship with Blokur for 2 months. During her time with the company, Fazilet pitched and created animations to communicate the services Blokur provides to music publishers and users, “Working along with a Graphic Design intern, we planned what each of us could contribute to Blokur in terms of design and aesthetics,” she said, “I decided to create a short animation, and presented the proposals to the team and CEO of Blokur.” Having creative freedom within briefs and placements allows for both students and businesses to discover new ways of thinking, and also to explore a wide array of solutions to best support their needs.
Working within the music industry was a first for Fazilet. “Being a part of different industries offers a great advantage, because I get to expand both my knowledge and aspects of professional workplaces and see how they work differently to other companies and environments.” This animated content has been used on Blokur’s website, enabling the company to engage even more musicians and music companies to ensure their rights are being protected.

Schemes like the Digital Grid Partnership allow businesses to maximise their creative output whilst ensuring students receive paid work opportunities.
