Blue Eyed Hag

  • Jordana Belaiche

'Hast thou forgot the foul witch Sycorax, who with age and envy was grown into a hoop?' Sycorax is stuck, banished, abandoned. Alone and stranded on a remote and unfamiliar island, she'll need all her magical acumen to commune with the elements if she is to survive. Forced into solitude, apart from the occasional conjuration and appearance of air bound spirits, she contemplates what it means to leave everything you've known behind and forge a new, brutal and unapologetic existence. Loosely based on Shakespeare's renderings of the Algerian witch Sycorax in 'The Tempest' and drawn from British-Algerian theatre practitioner Jordana Belaiche's own magical practices and experiences, 'Blue Eyed Hag' is a tale of resistance, transformation and self-acceptance.
