BODGING MILANO

In March 2010 nine designers spent 6 days away from their studios, screens and electricity to go back to the furniture following in the footsteps of the original country chairmakers. Working with pole lathes, steam benders and hand tools in Gudrun Leitz’s out door work shop in Clissett Wood nine unique pieces of furniture were crafted from the greenwood.

The chairs were taken straight to Milan and extibited with Designersblock at the Salone Del Mobile. For many it was the high point of the festival. Since then Bodging Milano has grown to include factory bodges, a second forest bodge exhibited at Designersblock 2012, a performance and commissions for the V&A, lectures at the Craft Council and projects with Ercol and Lloyd loom.
