Book Cover Design - Folklore of Ghazi

The brief was to design a Book Cover for ‘Ghazi’ a folklore from Bengal, India. Gazi Pir was a Muslim saint who is said to have spread the Islamic religion in Bengal. According to local myth, he could control dangerous animals and make them harmless and gentle.
The paisley motif is a very commonly used indian symbol which was used on the cover to show the 'Indianness' of the content. The animals shown within the motif embraces the wildlife of bengal region. Sunderbans (region between bengal, India and Bagladesh) are famous for their maneating tigers and crocodiles.
Typography was inspired by Urdu language.
The calligraphic style and the typography was inspired by 'Bangla', spoken more commonly in the particular regions of India.
