Project for Event Concept Role: Creative Lead Client: Mattel Venue: Studio Spaces Brand Licensing Europe brings together leading brands across entertainment, art, sports, corporate, gaming, and heritage sectors to build partnerships and secure brands’ rights. Mattel wanted to deliver their annual Barbie party, with a 70’s disco twist, an energetic evening to conclude 2019’s Brand Licensing exhibition. Studio spaces provided the perfect urban backdrop, boasting polished concrete floors and brick walls to add a modern edge to the theme. The design direction embodied 70’s disco mania while bringing to life that iconic Barbie look and feel we all know and love, think glitter, neon, and wonderful pink (pink everything!). The warehouse was transformed to act in distinct contrast to a separate conference area that promoted new brand initiatives. Within the main event space, bespoke Instagram moments such as a mirrored disco ball infinity room set the nightlife lighting design alive. Bold neon lighting, silver mirror balls, and radiant pink all reflected the wonderland of the 70’s dance floor, encouraging guests to dance the night away. While a troupe of dancers performed dressed in the Barbie fashion line and a DJ sounded out tunes from a glossy music booth, guests relaxed on stacks of vibrant, oversized pink fur cubes.
