Engaging in art is both a burden and a liberation. When one is a creator, creating becomes an irresistible compulsion. It’s unavoidable. Even if you convince yourself that you wish to be a housewife or spend your days fixing cars, you simply cannot stop producing art. No matter how hard you endeavour to remain stationary, after a prolonged period without creation, a familiar ache will “blossom” within you, compelling you to create time and again. The artist has no choice in the matter; it is their universal calling. This performance captures the essence of how one creates: whether from pain or joy, interest or admiration. The metaphor that is directly woven into the performance through individuals is the desperate need to bid farewell to those who cross our paths—those who no longer comprehend you and your creativity, those with whom love has reached a point where sharing the same air becomes impossible, and those who do not ascend the career ladder, with creators “over whose heads” one must pass to achieve anything worthwhile. I’m speechless! You’re an incredible team, every individual who has contributed to this moment, this emotion, and these feelings. There’s so much to say. I’ll save that for the next post.
