While exhibiting at New Designers 2023 Burniture was awarded with the Decorex Sustainability Award. This landed us a display booth at Decorex 2023. To mark the event we launched two new products and Burniture Wallpaper was one of them. For the wallpaper design, I expanded on the signature bark pattern I designed for Burniture's visual identity, celebrating a return to nature by providing a break from much of the synthetic pieces that dominated the interiors fair. The other product we launched at Decorex was The Rohan Chair, Burniture’s first batch product. These chairs are a tongue in cheek take on flat-pack furniture and can be easily dismantled and reconstructed. However, unlike other flat-pack products this one is actually sustainably, made from reclaimed wooden floorboards after we partnered with a flooring company in London. I designed a promotional zine to accompany this product launch and I wanted the binding to mimic the intelligent structure and versatile handling of the chair. So taking an A3 sheet, I folded it into eight pages to display text and images, then when unfolding the zine a poster is found covering the inside A3 spread. I printed the zine on homemade Lokta Paper, from local vendors in Acton. Photos in zine by Henry Harte. Photos of wallpaper by Henry Harte. Photos of zines by Jake Kuhn.
