I was recently asked to take part in the #artistsagainstplastics initiative curated by the Instagram page, @byebyestraws. The page shares lots of information about the damaging effects of single-use plastics, most of which only have a useful life of 10 minutes, but will never degrade. For the initiative, they're approaching artists and requesting they create artwork inspired by the issue. Here's the thought process behind my design: Through the use of ghostly carrier bags, I’ve aimed to show that it’s not us as humans who are haunted by our excessive plastic use, it’s the sea creatures in our lakes and oceans.
